July 1 is a special day. The Carbon Pricing Mechanism (CPM) comes into effect, making the Fremantle wind farm more competitive by making it less profitable to produce electricity from ground-up or liquefied dinosaur fossils.
Also, in the Western Australian wholesale electricity business, the new Balancing and Load Following Ancillary Services markets commence on July 1. These changes will make the electricity market more competitive. With our current business model they are unlikely to have a major impact on the viability of the Fremantle Wind Farm. The team will be watching as the markets settle in, and if changes are required then we’ll adjust our models accordingly.
